This one is gonna be quick and scuffed – and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t just trying to have something here before September ends.
It’s been busy.
I’m surrounded by laundry, and while most of it needs to get put away, some needs to find it’s way into my suitcase – which is lying open in the middle of the hallway. Packing doesn’t phase me – I’m really good at it because it’s the concept of “over-thinking” in task-form.
It has been a treadmill and a half for the entirety of September… albeit a good one. I still feel like I run out of words, energy, and the best of myself – sooner in the day than I would like. But I’m trying.
Did I mention, it’s been busy?
And as such, I’m horribly scattered, and I feel so behind it’s actually just making me want to avoid working on any of it. And yeah. Hence this post. This is when my best work is done. In the avoidance.
The furs are at “sleepaway” camp, and it’s so weirdly quiet and calm with only humans here to climb the walls. I keep waiting to be interrupted, and when it doesn’t happen, I interrupt myself. It feels silly. I don’t prefer it, honestly. And I never will. It reminds me why I don’t really trust anyone who would opt not to live with pets. (I’m not talking about circumstances. If you can’t, you can’t. But if you choose not to? Like, why?) I just watched an interview with Willem Dafoe where he said putting the animals to bed every night was his favorite farm task.
He gets it.
It’s the little things right now, isn’t it? Like, more than ever?
Whatever. This was as late and as last-minute as it gets – thank you, Pacific Standard Time.
Come October, we try again.
